  • Abstract:

Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) infestation has led to the selective decline of Eastern Hemlocks in the Northeast. In order to understand the mechanism of HWA hemlock mortality, this project will examine root resource allocation across hemlock age and infestation severity metrics by running parallel common garden and field studies at Harvard Forest over the span of ~2 years. This work is in accordance with HF LTER hemlock and belowground carbon research priorities and will promote collaborations across PI, post-doc, PhD student and undergraduate career stages.
