  • Abstract:

Long-term experimental manipulations to determine the effects of climate change on forest ecosystems have been established at Harvard Forest by Dr. Jerry Melillo and Dr. Serita Frey. During periods of climate disequilibrium, population and community level responses can lag behind temperature changes complicating model projections of future climate. A systems biology approach is necessary to understand the consequences of increased warming by providing data on patterns of genome and transcriptome variation revealing organismal, population and community-level responses and effects on biogeochemical cycles.
