Listening to the Forest is an immersive, data-driven sound installation that transforms ecological data into audible experiences. This project develops a mobile app that allows visitors to "listen" to real-time ecological data collected at Harvard Forest, including sapflow, carbon exchange, and growth measurements. By sonifying these typically imperceptible processes, the installation makes forest dynamics accessible through sound, deepening public understanding of environmental change while providing new tools for ecological education and climate research. The project combines art, science, and technology to create emotionally engaging experiences that foster ecological literacy across diverse audiences.
