• Abstract:

  Our group is interested in the dynamics of greenhouse gasses and pollutants in and around metropolitan Boston. We use a host of sensors in both the city itself and at strategic sites like the Harvard Forest. In May 2018 we installed a remotely operated infrared spectrometer (Bruker EM27/Sun) at Harvard Forest next to the Fisher Meteorological Station. Measurements of total-column CO2 (carbon dioxide), CH4 (methane), and CO (carbon monoxide) are gathered during most cloud-free daylight hours, and are used to support studies of urban emissions, regional transport, and forest-atmosphere exchange. In addition, total-column measurements from Harvard Forest are regularly used in the validation of satellite measurements of trace gases.
