    New England is a product of its past. Each historical period of the region’s history developed on a foundation laid by the previous period with each period incorporating legacies from the previous period. This contextualist, socio-ecological history of the New England region seeks to illuminate our socio-ecological past in order to provide new perspectives on the present and future.
